THE GOOD NEWS* of ETERNAL LIFE!

YOU CAN BELIEVE  IT

My story is extreme and unusual. I speak as someone who used to be an enemy of all religion. I qualified to postgraduate level as a biological scientist. I believed in evolution and rejected the idea of there being a Creator God and I rejected the idea of the Bible being true. As a person I was difficult to know: hard, uncaring and stubborn. That has all since changed! I could not have done that by myself.

I remember that even as a young child, I found the ideas of God, Jesus, Christian teaching and special creation both difficult to understand and impossible to believe. I had these as young as six! I was an atheist between the ages of six and fourteen. No one had ever seen God, so how could anyone say He exists, let alone have a book called his word, known as the Bible? The idea of Jesus being God as man was equally unprovable. No one could prove he existed, let alone that he said and did the things he is reputed to have said and done....or so I thought. In reality, there is more hard factual evidence to support the Bible than any of the contemporary literature at the time, such as Caesar's Gallic Wars, which are regarded by most scholars as reliable!

I attended boarding school. There I went through "christening" then "confirmation". Looking back, I realise that certainly in my case, all of that was merely preparation to take part in the ritual of that church. I recited the creeds (statements of belief), but they weren't real to me. I needed really hard persuasion that they were and are the backbone of a genuine faith. Besides, how could I know that I got the right religion? There are so many out there, what if one of these was right and the Christian one wrong? These answers were going to be provided all in good time.

After I left school, I trained to be a biological scientist. Initially, I attended College then successfully completed a taught Master of Science course in the faculty of medicine at University. In the meantime, still I attended church. I retained much of the misconceptions of true, Biblical Christianity as I had done when I was a teenager.

When I was twenty four, something strange happened to me. I felt as though I was suffocating from within.It was horrible! It felt like I was being buried alive. I went to the doctor's, but he could find nothing wrong. After a stressful week at work, I met with a friend at his flat. He asked two more of our mutual friends over: one young man and his then girlfriend. After a short discussion, all three friends began to pray (talk to God). It was then that the amazing experience to which I relate in my story occurred. Looking back, I realise that I had met with the Holy Spirit in a powerful and unmistakable way. Pentecost (Acts2v2) had been re-enacted for my benefit! You cannot prove history as it cannot be repeated. But this historical event had been repeated and not just to me but also the three witnesses! A few weeks afterwards, I decided to turn away from my sinful state and accepted the risen LORD Jesus Christ as my one and only LORD and personal Saviour. If you, the reader, get the chance to believe upon Jesus, do it right away. Do not leave it as long as I did!

Obeying the Gospel means “…repentance towards God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20 verse 21 in the Bible) But I needed proof of its truth. To my surprise and shock, I got it! In my particular case, it happened after God re-enacted Pentecost for my benefit.

“And suddenly there came from heaven the sound of a rushing wind that filled the whole house where they were sitting.” (Acts 2 v 2 )

The doors and windows were closed. There was no draught within. The only way that wind could have been generated in that room was by supernatural means. This wind went through my eardrums and penetrated every single part of my body. The wind of which we know in nature simply cannot do that.

Pentecost was an event that occurred in an upper room in a house in Jerusalem nearly two thousand years ago, shortly after the death and rising from the dead of the Lord Jesus Christ. The early believers in Jesus experience an amazing phenomenon just like this. A violent, powerful, rushing wind entered that room and touched each one personally.

This “repeat” convinced me that everything Jesus said and did was true. He lived, taught about the Kingdom of God; performed many miracles; died a cruel death on the Cross and rose again from the dead. He is with us now by the Holy Spirit. He made the claim that he is the way to Eternal Life. I believe him. Will you?

The GOOD NEWS is that ANYONE can have ETERNAL LIFE in HEAVEN. There is only one alternative: HELL. It exists. It is the outer darkness, the lake of fire. It is forever.

If you reject the CHRIST of the BIBLE in this life, he will reject you there. Here is how Bible Scholars believe you should accept him:

Please read the following carefully and claim these things for yourself. It does not matter whether you are young or old, rich or poor, what country you come from or what religious tradition you might observe, if any. YOU need to be saved from Hell.

“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I am truly sorry for all the wrong things I have said, thought and done in my life. I wish to turn from these now. I realise that I am not good enough to get into heaven because of my sinful state. I ask that you forgive me. I believe that you took all of my sin on you when you died on the Cross at Calvary two thousand years ago, that you shed your blood there  for me personally. I believe that you rose again from the dead, never to die again, the perfect sacrifice once and for all. I invite you now into my life as my LORD and personal SAVIOUR. I accept your offer of Eternal Life through YOU and YOU ALONE. Thank you. Amen”

“..if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ you will be saved.”
(Romans 10v9)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.”
(John 3 v 16)

“…the love of God is shown in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5 v 8)

“Behold, now is the accepted time, now is the day of Salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6 v 2) You can be here today and gone tomorrow. Be wise and obey the Gospel TODAY. It is TRUE.
